Melanoplus dodgei is a small short-winged grasshopper collected only from the Laramie Mountains in
Wyoming, but it probably occurs in other mountains in the state. It is found in areas
of coarse grass, rocks, and pine trees. Eggs overwinter in the soil and hatch in May
or June. Adults are present in August. It is a mixed feeder causing no economic damage
in Wyoming.
