What are the requirements of the Advanced SOAR Badge?
Building Honors Community
Building on your First-Year badge, you are invited to lead and strengthen the Honors community. Through events and activities, you will deepen connections with students, faculty, and staff while actively engaging with our shared Honors community. By contributing your perspective and reflecting on your experiences, you’ll grow as both an individual Honors student and a key member of an inclusive, dynamic community. *2 events required (10 points each)
Global Cultural Perspectives
Through Global Cultural Perspectives, you’ll engage in events that promote cultural discovery and immersion across boundaries. This includes studying abroad, multicultural programs, and exploring various cultural traditions. Reflecting on these experiences deepens your understanding of global connections and helps you grow as a global citizen linked to communities beyond borders. *3 events required (10 points each)
Arts and Humanities Integration
Through Arts and Humanities Integration, you’ll engage in events that highlight the vital role of arts and humanities in shaping society. Opportunities include museum visits, art exhibitions, lectures, creative projects, and more. Reflecting on these experiences fosters a humanistic perspective and deepens your understanding of creative expression’s impact. *3 events required (10 points each)
STEM Investigation
You will sharpen your STEM skills by participating in events focused on science, technology, engineering, and math. Opportunities include research, lectures, STEM fairs, and more. Reflecting on these experiences deepens your understanding of scientific principles, boosts critical thinking, and strengthens your ability to connect STEM with broader interdisciplinary challenges. *3 events required (10 points each)
Civic and Community Engagement
Building on your First-Year badge, you’ll take on leadership roles to serve and strengthen communities important to you. Opportunities include leading initiatives, volunteering, and attending meetings in various organizations. Reflecting on these experiences will help you grow as an engaged leader and develop effective community-building strategies. *Two events required (10 points each)
Leadership and Teamwork Readiness
You’ll engage in activities that prepare you to be a collaborative and responsible leader in your career. Opportunities include seminars, resume workshops, leadership roles, internships, and more. Pariticipating in these experiences helps you identify your strengths and develop skills for cover letters, resumes, and interviews. *2 events required (10 points each)
Advanced Capstone Training Module
To support your completion of the Honors Capstone requirement, this module (via the Suitable app) challenges you to explore funding opportunities, clarify your vision, and carry out your project while reflecting on its impact. Along the way, you’ll build valuable project management and development skills for your future career—culminating in a tangible, robust project bound to impress both within and beyond the university.
