Scholarship Application Proccess and Resources
To be competitive for the Honors Study Abroad Scholarship, planning ahead is essential for success. Instructions for applying are included below, as well as the deadlines for consideration. Remember! These scholarships are awarded on a rolling basis so apply early!

To apply to the Honors College Study Abroad Scholarship, complete the steps below:
- Log into WyoScholarships
- Click the "Sign In" button in the top right corner
- Sign in with your UW Username and Password
- If you are a first time user, complete the general application questions when prompted and click "Finish and Submit" when you have completed them. The general application must be completed in order to apply for the Honors College Study Abroad Scholarship.
- You can now view all offered scholarships by going to Our Opportunities, and from there you can click "Show Filters" to filter by your College or Department. All of the scholarships for the selected college/department will display.
- After the general application is complete, you can now submit the Honors College Study Abroad Scholarship application. Be sure to select the application portal/deadline that corresponds with when you will be studying abroad.
- *Please note: if you have already received an Honors Study Abroad Scholarship and would like to submit another application for a different program, please email honors@uwyo.edu to notify us of any subsequent scholarship applications.
Applications will be considered on a rolling basis within the deadlines below. Please apply as soon as possible as funds are not guaranteed. Scholarships are only available while funds remain. Application deadlines listed for Study Abroad Scholarship Applications below correspond to the semester during which the planned travel abroad will take place (i.e. To apply for a scholarship for a Fall 2025 study abroad program the deadline is August 15, 2025. - Fall Application Deadline: Aug 15
- J-Term Application Deadline: Dec 15
- Spring Application Deadline: Dec 15
- Summer Application Deadline: March 15

- Richard B. and Lynne V. Cheney Study Abroad Scholarship Fund This scholarship allows more UW students than ever to participate in scholarly activities abroad. The array of options provided by the Cheney Programs helps to cover international travel costs (according to student surveys, the largest perceived barrier to study abroad), in-country travel, tuition, and living expenses. A key component of the Cheney Programs is that students will participate in activities that further internationalization at UW upon their return from abroad.
- Benjamin A. Gilman International ScholarshipThe U.S. Department of State’s Benjamin A. Gilman International Scholarship is a grant program that enables students of limited financial means to study or intern abroad, thereby gaining skills critical to our national security and economic prosperity. The Institute of International Education has administered the program since its inception in 2001.
- List of Global Engagement Office's Scholarships for Study AbroadThis is an extensive list of the many scholarships available for students studying abroad, with brief descriptions and eligibility criteria.
- Scholarships in the College of Agriculture Beyond the Classroom offers grants to College of Agriculture and Natural Resources students participating in international independent study programs , college/university sponsored international study programs, or faculty-led study tours. The program’s goal is to help students gain an appreciation of other cultures and the global nature of today’s economy.
