Treatment of brackish water for fossil power plant cooling

May 22, 2023

PhD Student Zitao Wu has a new paper, Treatment of brackish water for fossil power plant cooling, published in Nature Water. This study evaluates the treatment of brackish water for thermoelectric power plant cooling and reveals trade-offs in freshwater savings, cost, and generating capacity shortfalls from deployment of brackish water desalination at existing power plants. See UW's press release for more information.
