Student Practicum Director: Sam Laffey

Sam was drawn to the mountain west for his education and future career. He earned an Associate’s Degree from Front Range Community College and a Bachelor’s Degree from Colorado State University in Economics and History.

While in law school, Sam has been one of the most visible and active students at the College of Law. He is a member for the Federalist Society, WTLA student chapter, and has served on the Board of Advocates as well as the Potter Law Club. He competed in and won the 2019 Davis & Cannon Environmental Law Moot Court Competition.

In additional to his activities within the law school, Sam has been proactive about gaining valuable experience in practice. He has externed with the Honorable Steven Cranfill in the District Court of the Fifth Judicial District, and also served as an intern for the Honorable William Simpson in the same court. Sam is also a student in in the dual degree program with the College of Buiness, working towards his Juris Doctor and an MBA degree.

With a passion for Wyoming and intentions to stay in the state to practice, Sam was excited by the prospect of serving as a Student Director as it allows him to help Wyomingites start new, Wyoming-based businesses.
