Frederick Monroe Tisdel

Frederick M. Tisdel

(1904-1908)

Frederick Tisdel was the President of the University of Wyoming from 1904-1908. He was born September 8, 1869 in Brighton, Massachusetts and in 1891 received a degree from Northwestern University, as well as from Northwestern School of Oratory. Furthering his studies, Tisdel received his M.A. from the University of Wisconsin, at Madison, and obtained his Ph.D. from Harvard University in 1900. He was head of the Department of English at Armour Institute of Technology, in Chicago, before he was called to the Presidency of the University of Wyoming. He was removed from office in 1908 on charges of "insubordination, untruthfulness, and maladministration."
