James L. Morrill

  James Morrill

(1942-1945)

James Morrill was the President of the University of Wyoming from 1942-1945. He was born on September 24, 1891 in Marion, Ohio. After receiving his degree from Ohio State University in 1913, Morrill began his career as a newspaper reporter. From 1917-1919, he also was executive secretary of the United States Food Administration in Ohio and of the Ohio branch of the Council of National Defense. Before becoming president, Morrill was alumni secretary and editor at Ohio State University from 1919-1928, junior dean of the college of education 1928-1932, and vice president of the university from 1932-1942.
