John King Jr was the President of the University of Wyoming from 1966-1967. He received his undergraduate degree at North Texas State University in Denton and received his M.S. at the University of Arkansas in 1937. In 1941 King was awarded his Ph.D. in education from Cornell University in Ithaca, New York. He was released from active service in the United States Navy in 1946 with the rank of lieutenant.
