Practice Interests

Brenda has extensive clinical practice experience in community mental health, medical social work, and school social work, providing her with the opportunity to work with children, adolescents, and adults. She emphasizes a client-first approach, starting where the client feels most comfortable, and empowering individuals to succeed by learning essential life skills. Brenda is trained in Solution-Focused Brief Therapy, Dialectical Behavioral Therapy, and Play Therapy.

Teaching Philosophy

In the classroom, Brenda hopes to challenge students and provide them with real life examples of different areas of social work. She believes in guiding students through different scenarios and opinions but also supporting them, so they feel safe in their environment. Empowering students is essential so they can gain confidence in their own practices, as well as their own sense of self. In the classroom, Brenda believes hands-on experiences are critical as well as having open and honest discussions without fear of judgement or retribution.
