Practice Interest
My practice areas of experience have been with children, teens, and adults who are experiencing significant life changes such as custody and/or removal from their home due to unsafe living conditions, abuse, or divorce. Within my practice, DBT and play therapy techniques have been the primary ways to help clients work through their trauma and communicate their needs to others. I believe it is important to take a systemic approach to helping clients by modeling skills for communication, advocacy, and emotional regulation in the environments they are operating in throughout their life.
Teaching Philosophy
In the classroom, I hope to model situations students can expect while working with clients. It is important to me to have an experiential learning space to practice the important skills and values of social work while offering a sense of teamwork, collaboration, and open feedback. While doing so, I hope each student can gain knowledge and confidence in being ethical, competent, leaders within the field of social work.
