M.B.A. & Pharmacy Dual Degree Program Highlights

Small Class Sizes

We pride ourselves on offering small class sizes in both the M.B.A. and Pharm.D. programs. A low student-to-faculty ratio creates an ideal learning environment that fosters individualized mentorship and class discussion.

In addition to required coursework, the School of Pharmacy offers a range of advanced elective options. Students have the opportunity to choose courses that align with their interests and career aspirations.

  • Geriatric Therapeutics: This course is designed to develop the student’s knowledge and understanding of geriatric pharmacotherapy through case discussion and providing patient care under the supervision of a faculty member.
  • Pharmacogenomics: Using case-based learning, this course explores the expanding role of pharmacogenomics in clinical practice and how this field will impact the pharmacy profession in the future.

UW’s pharmacy school is a tight-knit community of future practitioners. Students are encouraged to get involved in campus life to meet peers, network with professionals and expand their education beyond the classroom.

  • Phi Lambda Sigma Pharmacy Leadership Society
  • American Society of Health-System Pharmacy (ASHP)
  • Academy of Student Pharmacists (APhA-ASP)
  • National Community Pharmacy Association (NCPA)

"The U.S. pharmacy job market is highly competitive. A PharmD will signal to employers that I possess the technical abilities to perform my job, but the UW MBA is what will differentiate me from other job candidates. In addition to creating a fundamental understanding of business, the MBA program provides invaluable experiential learning opportunities, which improve managerial and leadership skills. I hope to leverage the attributes gained from the UW MBA program with the technical skills of the PharmD degree in order to pursue a leadership role within the pharmaceutical industry."
