Shelby Kappler, B.A. is an Assistive Technology Program Specialist at the Wyoming Institute for Disabilities. She works on the Accessible Educational Materials (AEM) project, which provides resources and assistive technology to students and educators throughout Wyoming. She believes that education should be accessible to all students, no matter their learning style.
Prior to working at WIND, Shelby worked for a summer program in Seattle, which teaches independent living skills and pre-employment strategies to blind and visually impaired youth. In 2018, she graduated from the University of Wyoming with degrees in international studies and Spanish, as well as minors in disability studies and anthropology. Shelby has served as president of the Abilities RSO on the UW campus, as well as a member of the Shepard Symposium Planning Committee and the UW Accessibility Committee.
You may also meet Shelby’s guide dog Olana, a female yellow lab. Olana graduated from Guiding Eyes for the Blind in January 2018, and enjoys chasing sticks, splashing in the mud, and wrestling with her Australian Shepherd “brother,” Indiana.
