Dean's Weekly Address

Greetings Staff and Faculty of the College of Arts and Sciences,

On Friday last week I travelled to Gillette and had some terrific discussions with several college stakeholders. Then on Saturday, I attended performances by David Dorfman Dance Company and UW Dance students at the Neltje Center in Sheridan. Thanks to all the faculty, staff, and students who put this together including: Nevin Aiken, Christie Zimmerman, Beth Venn, and many others. The performance was inspiring and well attended. I also had the opportunity to meet Kathryn Stevens, who is the new Assistant Director at the Neltje Center. She is a great addition to the Neltje Center team.

Thank you to those who attended the All-College Meeting on Monday afternoon. It was wonderful to see everyone, recognize awardees, and have a little time to visit afterward. I’ve had the opportunity to attend several ceremonies for those who have received awards recently, and I’m looking forward to recognizing many of these individuals this weekend at the annual College Awards Banquet.

Today I am in a full day of meetings with the A&S Board of Visitors. This advisory Board is a real asset to the college in many ways and we all look forward to sharing our good news with them and learning their valuable perspectives. We have strategically grown this Board to nearly 20 members in the past two years and they have some exciting projects in the works.

Enjoy the final week of the semester; I know it’s a very busy time for everyone leading up to commencement. Thank you for all you do for our college.

Have a great weekend.

Most sincerely,

J. Scott Turpen
