Debashis Dutta

Dr. Debashis Dutta is an assistant professor in the Department of Chemistry.

The Dutta research group is currently exploring the use of sub-micrometer sized channel (nanochannel) arrays as supports for creating ultra-thin proton exchange membranes (PEM) in microfluidic fuel cells. The proposed design has been demonstrated in our laboratory successfully fabricating silicate based sol-gel structures within nanochannel arrays and employing them as PEMs in acidic fuel cells. Moreover, these devices have been shown to yield a power output about an order of magnitude greater than similar microfluidic fuel cells reported in the literature.
