When I was nine, two of my grandparents spent time in the hospital at the same time. The nurses and medical environment fascinated me, and I knew then that I wanted to be a nurse. I recently took a Nursing Assistant course, and after clinicals I knew nursing was the right career for me. It just feels right!
I chose the University of Wyoming because of the excellent nursing program. The FWWSON faculty was enthusiastic and welcoming. UW is also affordable, has study abroad opportunities, and the student enrollment is a comfortable size. Not too big and not too small.
I learned about the Aspire program on my first campus visit. I planned on applying for the program as soon as I was accepted to UW. I’m very excited to now be a part of it. The Aspire program will provide a great opportunity to improve my leadership skills and become more involved in the nursing profession.

Now that I am a CNA, I plan to work during school and summers to explore the nursing profession and gain practical experience. I look forward to building rewarding relationships with the patients in my care.
During college, I hope to continue my academic success, grow as a person and prepare for the future. I plan to have some fun too!
After graduation, I will be able to work almost anywhere and have a variety of nursing fields to work in. Pediatrics and neonatal intensive care interest me now, but I plan to experience a variety of disciplines to find the area that best fits my strengths.
