Leadership Wyoming is the premier organization in the state for bringing together Wyoming leaders and highlighting the issues facing the state.

Launched in 2000, the annual 9-month program is designed to strengthen leadership skills and build community advocates by exposing a collaborative group of people to a curriculum comprised of monthly, in-community, training sessions that focus on different topics relevant to the state such as education, natural resources, tourism, healthcare, government, cultural diversity, technology, manufacturing and community building.

A Wyoming native hailing from Evanston, Quillinan has dedicated his entire career to advancing research and technology in the energy sector for the betterment of the state. In his current position, he oversees all of the research efforts led by SER covering areas such as commercial-scale carbon management, hydrogen, carbon engineering, rare earth element and critical mineral extraction, among others. In his capacity, he also works to improve and streamline external funding opportunities, regularly interfacing with entities such as the U.S. Department of Energy and National Science Foundation.

A geologist by trade, Quillinan joined SER in 2012. He previously worked for the Wyoming State Geologic Survey for six years after earning both his B.S. and M.S. in Geology and Geophysics from the University of Wyoming.

“I am excited and humble to be part of such a great group of Wyoming Leaders,” says Quillinan. “I am looking forward to meeting and connecting with my classmates, learning about the various economic drivers that support our communities, and giving back to our great state.”

Quillinan is the second member of the SER leadership team to be selected for the program following SER Executive Director Holly Krutka, an alumna from the Leadership Wyoming Class of 2022.

“Leadership Wyoming is an incredible program, and I am grateful that Scott was selected,” says Krutka. “He has long served the state of Wyoming with a positive, calm and humble attitude. Knowing Scott, he will learn a great deal from the Leadership Wyoming experience and will find ways to pay it forward and benefit others in the future.”
