A prominent advocate of fossil fuels, Epstein is the author of “The Moral Case for Fossil Fuels” and “Fossil Future: Why Global Human Flourishing Requires More Oil, Coal and Natural Gas — Not Less.” He makes the case that fossil fuels are needed for developing nations to achieve cost-effective energy.

“Within SER’s mission of energy-driven economic development for Wyoming is a robust outreach program that supports speakers sharing differing perspectives,” says SER Executive Director Holly Krutka. “Mr. Epstein is an internationally recognized author and speaker, and we look forward to hearing his perspective on energy issues.”

The first 50 people to arrive will receive a complimentary copy of his most recent publication, “Fossil Future,” and the University Store will be on location at the event to sell additional copies of the book.

A philosopher and energy theorist, Epstein regularly speaks in favor of expanding fossil fuels. He attended Duke University where, for two years, he was editor and publisher of The Duke Review. He has since testified before Congress on a number of occasions and is the founder and CEO of the Center for Industrial Progress, a for-profit think tank.

“This is an important topic, and it’s critical that we get this right to avoid a future of energy poverty,” says Cameron Wright, Carrell Family Dean of the College of Engineering and Physical Sciences. “I found Mr. Epstein’s latest book to be a fascinating must-read, and I’m looking forward to his presentation Nov. 30.”

Following the UW event, Epstein will travel to Casper for a community presentation at Casper College Friday, Dec. 1, at 6 p.m.
