The School of Resources (SER) is pleased to welcome Norbert Longsworth to the financial team.
Joining SER in September as a grant accountant, Longsworth is working on all grant-related financial matters and cost-share activities under the supervision of SER Grants Manager, Cindy Ishkanian. The team manages over $30 million of external funding for SER’s robust research portfolio.
“We are delighted to have Norbert join the financial team at SER,” says Ishkanian. “Norbert will fill a critical role in helping to manage the complex grant projects. We’re greatly looking forward to having him leverage his skills and experience for the benefit our growing research.”
Hailing from Brooklyn, N.Y., Longsworth earned his Bachelor’s degree in accounting from Miles College, and recently completed his Master of Business Administration from the University of Alabama at Birmingham. He has previously worked in accounting positions at the University of Alabama, Friends of Caroline Hospice, and Miles College.
His prior positions combined with his education have equipped him with excellent analytical skills, and fluency in providing pre-award and post-award support.
“Working for the School of Energy Resources has been a great eye opener in regards to the research the university does and just how strong of an impact it makes,” says Longsworth. “I am excited to be part of such an incredible team and work on such a wide range of projects.”
“With the recent influx of successful project announcements, SER has substantially grown the research staff and we have expanded the financial team to accommodate those evolving needs,” says SER Director of Business Operations Rachel Ferrell. “Norbert is joining SER at an exciting time and we are so happy to be supporting both our researchers as well as our long-term financial team by bringing him on board.”
