What to Expect at New Student Day
New Student Days is designed to help you prepare for your first semester at UW. During the event, you'll meet with academic advisors, register for classes and get valuable insights into campus life.
Expect an engaging day filled with opportunities to explore the campus, learn about university resources and connect with other incoming students. You’ll also receive important information on what to do before the semester starts.

Planning your visit to UW
We’re excited to welcome you to Laramie for New Student Days! To make your visit as smooth as possible, be sure to review our helpful resources on lodging and things to do in the area. Whether you're staying overnight or just visiting for the day, we’ve got everything you need to plan your trip.

Confirm your enrollment before attending New Student Days to ensure you're able to meet with academic advisors and register for your fall classes. If UW is your #1 choice, we encourage you to confirm as soon as possible so you can complete your registration during the event.
If you're still deciding, we hope your New Student Day experience shows you what UW offers—though you won’t be able to register, you will still meet with an advisor to discuss class options. The deadline to confirm is May 1.
Advising is broken out by major. To ensure you will meet with the appropriate advisor, verify your major is correct. Log-in to your WyoRecords checklist via WyoWeb and your major is listed under your name. Email Admissions at least a week before your New Student Day to update your major. If you are interested in double majoring or adding a minor, you do not need to do anything now. You can discuss this with your advisor this summer or fall.
If you have not taken the ACT/SAT, we recommend taking the Math Placement at least four days prior to your New Student Day event to help your advisor recommend an appropriate math class.
If you have a green checkmark next to the Math Placement on your WyoWeb checklist, you have taken a college-level math course, or have taken a math AP exam, you do not need to complete it. If you have questions on whether you should take the placement, feel free to call (307) 766-4221 or email math-registration@uwyo.edu.
Students are not required to bring anything with them to the event but here are some suggestions:
- A copy of your unofficial college transcripts for any dual/concurrent enrollment taken,
AP/IB exam results - MMR immunization record, especially if you don’t have a green checkmark for it on your WyoWeb checklist
- Wear comfortable shoes and weather appropriate clothes as you will be walking outside during the event.
Even though ACT/SAT scores are not required for admission, they are helpful for math class placement. If you haven't yet sent us your ACT/SAT results, please have them sent to UW Admissions through your testing agency. You can also email a copy of your ACT/SAT score report to UW Admissions. Please be sure it has your first and last name on it, includes the test date, and the score breakdown for each exam section.
Submit proof of your MMR immunizations (measles, mumps, rubella) through the Student Health Service Online Patient Portal. This step must be completed before you can register for classes. Make sure to submit your records as soon as possible to avoid any delays.
Contact Student Health Services at (307) 766-2130 with any questions about the immunization requirement.
Fill out your housing application through your WyoRecords account, including your Living Learning Community (LLC) interest and select your meal plan.
Complete the Prepare for Registration checklist through your WyoRecords account by clicking on Register for Classes on the first two screens and complete all steps with a yellow triangle.
NOTE: This is different than your WyoWeb checklist when you initially login. This includes the following:
- Opting in/out of UW health insurance coverage
- Providing a UW Alert Cell Phone number
- Updating contact information
- Completing the Student Financial Responsibility Agreement
Please check your email regularly (including spam/junk/clutter folders) for important information about New Student Day, summer onboarding webinars, and other important things leading up to your start at UW this fall.
If you initially applied to UW with your high school email address, please let us know a personal email (Gmail, Yahoo, etc.) so we can update your account. We don’t want you to miss important emails that get caught in the spam filter or when your email gets shut off after graduation.
If you’ve confirmed your enrollment, you should also start checking your UW email by clicking on the Email icon in WyoWeb.
Download the Navigate Student app by EAB Global and use your UW login information to access your account.
Download the ZeeMee App and join the University of Wyoming community to meet other admitted students for the fall semester.
