Our laboratory is involved in the rational design of multifunctional metal/ligand platforms that exploit ligand hemilability and/or secondary-coordination sphere interactions for control of substrate binding and transformation. One such project involves the development of systems capable of reversible heterolytic C–H bond scission to enable access into otherwise challenging organic transformations. Another involves the use of pendent nucleophiles to control species involved in reactions such as cyclopropanation, epoxidation, and alkane/arene oxidation.
