Annual Programming and Events

CGS runs a number of annual programs and events each year, on campus and across Wyoming. Whether it's showcasing faculty and student research, developing cultural programming, facilitating faculty research and collaboration, hosting international fellows, or providing funding opportunities, CGS is at the forefront in internationalization opportunities for Wyoming.

Current Programming

These projects, programs, and events either run every year through CGS, or are current major focuses for our office. Our regional emphases may shift from year to year, in an effort to best support UW's growing partnerships and to support faculty and students in engaging with a diverse cultural and research set. As we model our own efforts, we continue to support and expand opportunities across the globe and across the Wyoming community.

CGS supports and coordinates over a dozen global research cohorts across the UW campus. Cohorts are led by dedicated faculty and focus on specific regions around the globe, from Scotland to Southeast Asia. The cohorts function to support faculty international research, promote international engagement on campus, enhance collaboration across and within departments and disciplines, and showcase global work.

CGS facilitates funding support for faculty, staff, and students to support international research and programming. There are typically two funding calls each year for international research funding support, in the beginning of the fall and spring semesters. CGS also coordinates with the Research and Economic Development Division to provide additional seed funding for conference development and partnerships.

Usually offered in the spring, these casual seminars highlight international research and collaboration champions at UW. They offer opportunities for the campus and Wyoming community to learn from leaders in internationalization on everything from running an effective faculty-led study abroad program, to running international partnerships, to the ins and outs of federal fellowships like the Fulbright Program.

The Young Southeast Asian Leaders Initiative (YSEALI) sends 2-5 young professionals to UW every year. Over the course of four weeks each fall, they take part in local fellowships on the UW campus, and in the community. With their department mentors, they engage in research, support work on campus, get involved with local events, share their culture, and develop mutually beneficial programming.
