People with a stake in complex natural resource problems are often in conflict with others about ways to resolve them. Interest-based negotiation is a fundamental skill for people who need to collaborate to find mutually satisfactory solutions. In this highly interactive two-day workshop you will discover how to resolve complex issues, reduce conflict, and create value in a negotiation. You will learn basic concepts of interest-based negotiation including how to manage two-party and multi-party negotiations, learn to properly prepare for negotiation, and understand how to evaluate negotiation outcomes.

Workshop runs 9 a.m. to 5 p.m. on the first day and 8 a.m. to 4 p.m. on the second day. Lunch is provided.

Instructors

Nina Burkardt, US Geological Service and Steve Smutko, University of Wyoming
