Matthew Greenberg

Matthew Greenberg is an Assistant Professor in the UW Department of Theaytre and Dance specializing in musical theatre, voice, devising new work, speech, and acting. He has previously held teaching appointments at West Virginia University, The Ohio State University, and the Tennessee Governor's School of the Arts at Middle Tennessee State University. He has guest lectured at CUNY, University of Ljubljana, Toi Whakaari New Zealand Drama School, Concord University, Midwestern State University Texas, Capital University, University of Northern Alabama, and Wittenburg University. He also teaches acting and playwrighting to incarcerated students pursuing their bachelor's degrees through the University of Wyoming Pathways from Prison Program. 

 

He has appeared alongside Tony, Emmy, and Oscar Award-winners in film, tv, commercials, plays, operas, and musicals. An avid researcher, he has presented paper and workshop conference presentations as part of VASTA,  ATHE, MATC, SETC, ASTR, and Fitzmaurice Voicework's Freedom and Focus. As a producer, he has featured films in Sundance Film Festival, and served as a co-producer with WYOpen Stages, where he produced the 25th Anniversary production of The Laramie Project with original company members of Tectonic Theater Project.

 

His verbatim theatre play, Robbie's House, premiered at the Neltje Center for Excellence and Creativity in the Arts and was sponsored by UW Department of English/The Mellon Foundation's "Re-Storying the West" grant. He was the 2025 Conference Director of VASTA has held leadership positions within VASTA, ATHE, SETC, and sits on the board of two non-profit theatre companies: Stages on the Sound, in New York City and Relative Theatrics, in Laramie, Wyoming.  

 

At University of Wyoming, he has been awarded "Top Prof" from UW Mortar Board Cap and Gown Charter and The Matthew Shepard Symposium for Social Justice's Faculty Award. In August 2026, he was awarded a festival excellence award for his performance at the International Theater University Festival in Monastir, Tunisia.
