Meg Van Baalen-Wood believes language, culture, and art make us who we are. A long-time Laramie resident, in fall 2004, Meg joined the University of Wyoming (UW) English department, teaching professional/technical writing and communication. In 2014, she accepted a faculty development position in UW’s Ellbogen Center for Teaching and Learning (ECTL) where she leads the Center’s Critical and Creative Thinking initiative.

Meg earned her BA (Humanities and Fine Arts and Honors) and MA (Interdisciplinary Studies) at UW. Her scholarly interests include writing and communication; critical and creative thinking; building learning communities; pedagogy; and most recently, performing arts criticism. Away from UW, Meg loves spending time outdoors – running, hiking, skiing, bicycling – baking, doing virtually anything with her family, and reading, preferably while perched on a warm radiator.
