Dr. Mimi Fenton, earned her BA and MA in English at UW, and her PhD at the University of Kentucky where she specialized in the literature of John Milton with the renowned Milton scholar, John Shawcross. She taught Milton and Renaissance literature as a Professor at Western Carolina University in Cullowhee, NC. She has published many articles and book chapters, one monograph (Milton’s Places of Hope: Spiritual and Political Connections of Hope with Land), and co-edited three books: Their Maker’s Image: New Essays in John Milton (2010); To Repair the Ruins: Reading Milton (2012); With Wandering Steps: Generative Ambiguity in Milton’s Poetics (2015). She served as the President of the Milton Society of America in 2011. She received The University of North Carolina Board of Governor’s Teaching Excellence Award, the WCU Chancellor’s Outstanding Teaching Award, The WCU College of Arts and Sciences Teaching Award (twice), and the University Scholar Award. She served as WCU Dean of the Graduate School and Research (2012-15), and in 2017 was named as a University of Wyoming Distinguished Alumna. In 2018, she was a Fulbright Scholar in Budapest, Hungary where she taught and researched Milton.
