Breezy Taggart is assistant dean in the Honors College. Dr. Taggart currently directs and teaches in the first-year Honors Colloquium course sequence. Dr. Taggart also teaches interdisciplinary courses focusing on the intersections of art and medicine and art and the environment. Her courses include “Environmental and Sustainability Issues in Art,” “Picturing Mental Illness in Literature, Art and Film,” and “Explorations in Medicine, Science, and Art in Florence, Italy.”
Dr. Taggart oversees the marketing efforts in the college, as well as oversight of the Honors Colloquium, SOAR curriculum, and college website, as well as assisting the dean on curriculum, budget, Honors grants and scholarships, and college policies and procedures. She additionally collaborates with the Honors Director of Student Success on college recruitment, retention, and assessment.
Dr. Taggart earned her BA and MA from Brigham Young University in Art History and Curatorial Studies, and received her Ph.D. in Design, Environment, and the Arts from Arizona State University in May 2019. Breezy’s dissertation is titled “Disordered Minds: Picturing Mental Illness Pre-Deinstitutionalization,” and her research centers on representations of mental illness, health, disabilities, and medicine in art, photography, and film. She has curated and co-curated multiple art exhibitions on topics including public lands, land ecology and sustainability, home, and identity.
