Studying Abroad in Japan, Hai!

Learning abroad expands the horizon

Overall, it was an amazing experience, topped off with walking by wild deer in Miyajima! Honors made this trip possible for me, providing advising and scholarship opportunities.

Discovering the world through study abroad

I went on a study abroad in Japan! If there were any reason to claim this was the best summer of my life, this would be it! What made this experience so awesome was the variety of sites that I visited, either alone or with the group of students I was with. Every day, we either visited a museum, historic site, temple, or famous shopping center led by our professor, or we had free time to do as we wanted. The coolest experience I had with my cohort was going to TeamLab Planets Tokyo! It had three different experiences: water, forest, and garden, where you physically walk through gorgeous spaces. Walking through water, seeing floating flowers, and jumping on stars until they supernova! However, on the second day of the trip, I decided to walk around the Asakusa markets alone (Asakusa is a district in Tokyo). I found a ramen restaurant, the best I had on the entire trip. I knew where shops were and felt free to explore without a map. It was simply an amazing feeling. However, the fun was not over yet! Japan is also the home of Pokémon, and I had a quest to acquire a Gible plushie, which is my favorite Pokémon. After searching in three different cities over two weeks...Success! I finally found my Gible, and I was so happy I also got a Tepig (my first starter Pokémon ever) and a Chancey (because it's literally my name). Go to Japan! It's stellar! Currently, I'm trying to finish a Japanese grammar flashcard deck (say that five times fast), and I am so happy this trip pushed me to take language learning seriously.
