Events at Honors
Events are a key part of what makes the Honors College so special and what brought me back to Laramie after graduating from UW with a bachelor’s in international studies and Spanish with an Honors minor. I’m originally from the Denver area. I love exploring new areas around the world. There is so much to learn in the world, and I love being able to explore different topics through Honors events. An important part of Honors events is creating an ever-expanding Honors community. Our community is a mixture of students, faculty, staff, community members, and a wide variety of guests from across the world.
With our events, we hope to create spaces to engage our community intellectually, socially, and personally. The variety of event participants and event types gives space for different perspectives to be shared and spark discussion.
For students specifically, engaging with experts is a rare opportunity since many of these interactions happen in smaller settings than normal lectures and the classroom setting. We hope that our community sparks conversations and connections beyond the traditional academic setting. Fostering community gives people a wide variety of support and creates a unique sense of belonging. We want to create a space for our community to be curious, open, and engaged with a wide variety of ideas. This engagement allows us to have meaningful connections in many settings. Make sure to check out an event this semester, as there’s sure to be something to offer you. There’s a wide range of events each semester. You can learn more about our upcoming events on our events calendar.
