Travel Scholarships

There are several scholarships available for students traveling to study abroad. Click on the links below to explore the options.

This scholarship allows more UW students than ever to participate in scholarly activities abroad. The array of options provided by the Cheney Programs helps to cover international travel costs (according to student surveys, the largest perceived barrier to study abroad), in-country travel, tuition, and living expenses. A key component of the Cheney Programs is that students will participate in activities that further internationalization at UW upon their return from abroad.
The U.S. Department of State’s Benjamin A. Gilman International Scholarship is a grant program that enables students of limited financial means to study or intern abroad, thereby gaining skills critical to our national security and economic prosperity. The Institute of International Education has administered the program since its inception in 2001.
