Introduction
If you’re a student looking for business resources and aren’t sure where to start, UW Libraries is here to help. From finding company and industry information to researching financial and marketing topics, these five tips will help you find the resources you need and make the most of our business databases and services.
TIP 1:
The library’s Business Research Guide is a great place to start with your work! Here
you will find lists of library databases (which contain scholarly information), and
online resources (which are freely available to anyone). They are organized by the
kind of information you will find in the resource. For example, click on the companies
and non-profits tab to find info on companies and non-profits.

You’ve navigated to the Research Databases on our website, but now what? Sometimes figuring out how to use databases can be tough. No worries!
We’ve made some simple tutorials to help you navigate the databases. You can find

Tip 3:
NAICS code? What the heck is an NAICS code?! NAICS stands for North American Industry
Classification System. Basically, these codes classify businesses into different industries.
This helps because you can use NAICS codes to search for industry info in databases
like IBISWorld and Simply Analytics. You can look up NAICS codes on the census.gov website. If you need more assistance with how to use NAICS to search, you can book an appointment

Tip 4:
There are three mega databases that will be your best bets for finding business information:
Business Source Complete, Business Insights, and ProQuest One Business. Between these three databases, you can probably find the business information you
need for your research assignments. Each one offers different information, including
scholarly articles, country profiles, company profiles, and more!

The University of Wyoming Libraries has been a Federal Depository Library since 1907. The collection comprises approximately 1.5 million print and microfiche
items in Coe Library and Library Annex, as well as maps, aerial and infrared photographs,
and geological publications housed in the Brinkerhoff Geology Library. The Federal
Document Library Program is changing from physical to digital distribution of government
information; UW Libraries provides access to online publications available from the
Federal Depository Library Program through the library catalog.
