Biography

 

Deisy supervises the Collection Acquisitions Team. She has held various roles within the Collection Management Unit during her seventeen years at the University Libraries. She manages monographic (one-time) acquisitions for print and electronic titles, oversees invoice processing, and makes sure purchases are charged to the correct funds. She handles record loading for one-time e-resources for popular reading (OverDrive & McNaughton Popular Reading) and maintains the catalog's discovery records for e-book titles. Deisy is a proud native Spanish speaker and enjoys selecting Spanish titles for the popular Spanish book collection.

 

During her years at UW, she has mentored first-generation students through the Multicultural Student Leadership Initiative (MSLI). She is currently involved in the Presidential Leadership Institute and the Academic Management Institute Cohorts. 

 

Her favorite hobbies outside of work are hiking in the mountains with her family, cooking, and, when she has time, sewing and pampering her four small guinea pigs.
