In-State Transfers

UW is proud of our close connection to the many community colleges around the state. The partnership between these colleges and the university is incredibly valuable and allows for easy transfer between institutions.  Transferring from a Wyoming community colleges even maintains Hathaway eligibility!

Transferring from out-of-state to the University of Wyoming is a simple process. With our resources available, you will be able to confidently determine which of your credits transfer and get started on the next step of your academic journey at UW!

Start Your Transfer Process

If you are a UW student who transferred from a Wyoming Community College before completing your Associate’s Degree you may qualify for the Reverse Transfer program. This is a valuable option UW is able to offer, that opens more opportunities for students as they pursue a Bachelor’s Degree.

The Express Transfer Agreement (ETA) program is a pathway designed for Laramie County Community College (LCCC) students in select majors to efficiently complete their bachelor’s degree smoothly and successfully, ensuring every credit counts toward your degree.

The pre-trasnfer credit evaluation and other tools offers a preliminary review showing which of your earned credits will transfer to UW based on your unofficial transcripts. This early evaluation helps you to plan your academic path and make informed decisions about enrolling in future courses.

The University of Wyoming offers a petition process for students who have taken courses at previous institutions. This process is for students who were awarded credit at UW (e.g. ELEC 1000, N/A) for a particular course and wish to have it reevaluated.

Step 1

Complete the Pre-Credit Transfer Evaluation.

You can use unofficial transcripts for this step and it will help you determine which of your credits will transfer to UW.

Fill Out an Application.

You can apply online or use the Common App, if you would prefer. UW’s application is straightforward and can be completed in just a few minutes.

Apply for any applicable scholarships, including those designated for transfer students. You may also want to fill out a new FAFSA if your financial situation has changed.
