The Wyoming Union operates under strict and standard operating hours*. If your event requires the Union to open earlier or stay open later than those standard hours, you can request for extended building hours. This service is not guaranteed as the Union functions off student worker availability. If approved, all organizations will be charged Additional Building Hour fees in accordance with the current Proposed FY26 Business Fee Book. A final version will be uploaded once approved by the Board of Trustees.
The Wyoming Union is not responsible for any lost or stolen items from event/meeting spaces or public areas within the building. Lost and found items found in or near the Wyoming Union can be collected at the Information Desk while the Wyoming Union is open. UWPD collects unclaimed items monthly where they are then stored at their office. For more information or to inquire about a lost item, call the Information Desk at (307) 766-3160 or UWPD Lost & Found at (307) 766-5179.
Due to ongoing construction around the Union, we understand that parking options have become limited. UW’s Transportation & Parking Services Office can issue day parking permits and provide any parking information you may need to host a successful event. All metered parking around the Union is monitored from 8am – 5pm during the week. Permit parking areas are enforced 24/7 unless otherwise indicated in the lot.
Do you need Accessibility resources at your event? See our Accessibility Event Planning page for more information!
For Student Organizations and UW Departments, there are a variety of Union advertisement options available. The Union Events Office offers tabletop signage, A-frames/sandwich boards, a bulletin board, and digital advertising. Additionally, Student Organizations can submit their posters to be put up around campus in the Student Orgs Office weekly Poster Run.
The Associated Students at the University of Wyoming offers funding for Student Organizations (SO) for hosting events, attending conferences and competitions, and marketing new student organizations. These funds come directly from the ASUW student feel. For more information regarding SO funding and their finance policy, and for support in using the funds if they are received, contact the Director of Student Organizations at asuwexc7@uwyo.edu, visit their online guide, or visit the ASUW office in Union Room 103!
Knowing what size group or room arrangement is possible is essential to your planning. Reference our capacity and setup guide for help!
All campus departments must go through UW Catering first as they have first right of refusal for all events in the Union. Student Organizations and all External Organizations have the option to use UW Catering or an Approved External Caterer. If UW Catering is not available, all event organizers can select an approved external approved caterer. Union Food Services can provide catering for small meetings and events (maximum of 40 attendees).
The Wyoming Union strives to provide quality service and support to all events. We are structured differently from other event spaces and do not have a dedicated team to clean up areas between all events. Therefore, we ask all event and meeting organizers to remove any excessive food trash (e. trash not in a trash can, stacks of pizza boxes, extra trash bags filled during event, etc.). We also ask groups to remove any decorations and signage they bring in for events in the building. For excessive messes left after an event, cleaning fees will be charged.
Student Technical Services (STS) can provide lighting and sound services to enhance your events in the Wyoming Union. These services are free and given priority to Student Organizations. Departments and external groups can consult with STS regarding availability and fees. STS can provide services (pending availability) in these following locations:
