The World Bank is offering five internship positions for 2-3 months in the summer of 2008 for select undergraduate students enrolled in, but not limited to, business, communications, economics, finance, international relations, and political science. These internships are being offered by four departments; Human Development Network, North American Affairs, South Asia External Affairs, and World Bank Institute. Through generous donations from supporters of the Ruckelshaus Institute and the Haub School of Environment and Natural Resources, we offer several scholarships for ENR students and other students on campus interested in environmental and natural resources issues. Scholarship opportunities are subject to change so contact SENR for current information.
The Yellowstone Summer Field Course provides students with an opportunity to spend 30 days in Yellowstone National Park exploring the ecological, cultural, and geological dimensions of the region. The Haub School of Environment and Natural Resources is now offering the Erivan Haub Scholarship to cover the full course fee for one Wyoming student. Application deadline is February 15th, 2008. In 2008, the Foundation expects to award 80 scholarships of up to $5,000 and 50 honorable mentions on the basis of merit to sophomore and junior level college students. Scholarships are offered in any of three categories: To students who have demonstrated commitment to careers related to the environment; or To Native American and Alaska Native students who have demonstrated commitment to careers related to tribal public policy; or
To Native American and Alaska Native students who have demonstrated commitment to careers related to Native health care. The Udall Foundation seeks future leaders across a wide spectrum of environmental fields, including policy, engineering, science, education, urban planning and renewal, business, health, justice, and economics. The Foundation also seeks future Native American and Alaska Native leaders in public and community health care, tribal government, and public policy affecting Native American communities, including land and resource management, economic development, and education.
Timeline and Procedure: The University of Wyoming may nominate up to six excellent sophomores and juniors. Students interested in being nominated for the award should submit a letter of interest to Nicole Korfanta by January 16, 2008, in 212 Wyoming Hall. The letter should briefly outline the student’s qualifications and reasons for applying. Please also include unofficial transcripts. Up to six nominees will then be invited to complete the Udall Scholarship application, which can be viewed at http://udall.gov/scholarship/ and which is due on March 4, 2008.
