A Gillette, WY native, Spencer received his undergraduate degree from Duke University in Durham, North Carolina where he studied and did research in the field of environmental chemistry. At Duke, Spencer was also a Division I student-athlete, competing for the Blue Devils as a long-distance runner in cross country and indoor/outdoor track & field. I chose medicine because it represents an unparalleled career path that combines scientific inquiry and innovation, professional collaboration, interpersonal connections, and teamwork in an effort to help improve peoples’ quality of life. He is open to all medical specialties at this point, but has preliminary interests in rural emergency medicine & rural primary care, anesthesiology, and hospice care. He is also excited to have been selected as a TRUST Scholar within the University Of Washington School Of Medicine. A passionate rock climber, Spencer likes to spend as much of his free time as possible climbing, and also enjoys running and spending time at his family’s home in Jackson, WY.
