School-based STEM/CTE Programs

This website is designed to make science, technology, engineering and math (STEM) and career and technical education (CTE) educational opportunities accessible to students, parents, teachers and other interested citizens.

Programs are listed by grade level beginning with general high school programs.  Projects already underway in Wyoming are listed in alphabetical order by School/District at the end of each section.

Middle - High School: Project Lead The Way

The PLTW Innovation Zone (aka the classroom) is an engaging and thought-provoking place, where students develop critical thinking skills through hands-on project-based learning, preparing them to take on real-world challenges. Students will have the opportunity to create, design and build things like robots and cars, applying what they are learning in math and science to the world’s grand challenges. The National FFA Organization (formerly Future Farmers of America) envisions a future in wh​ich all agricultural education students will discover their passion in life and build on that insight to chart the course for their educations, career and personal future. High School: HUNCH - High School Students United with NASA to Create Hardware

HUNCH is an innovative school-based program that partners NASA at Johnson Space Center, Marshall Space Fight Center, and Langley Research Center with high schools and middle schools in states across the nation. The partnership involves students fabricating real-world products for NASA as they apply their science, technology, engineering and mathematics skills as well as learning to work in teams and think creatively. High School: SkillsUSA

SkillsUSA is a partnership of students, teachers and industry working together to ensure America has a skilled workforce. SkillsUSA helps each student excel. SkillsUSA is a national nonprofit organization serving teachers and high school and college students who are preparing for careers in trade, technical and skilled service occupations, including health occupations. High School: Campbell County High School Energy Academy

Campbell County High School Academies are a school-within-a-school, career theme based, connection with career, core subjects, and CTE courses. Benefits include: integrates academic & career curriculum, personalizes & supports learning environment, instills leadership & teamwork skills, works with local employers, offers community service opportunities, provides possibility of certification, dual enrollment opportunities available, offers scholarship opportunities. High School: Geometry in Construction - Fremont County SD #25

By combining two curriculums: math and CTE, students can readily identify the relevance of mathematics. Students can see the relevance through real world models of skills being used. They not only see this in the classroom but also can recognize knowledge attained in class outside by being able to recognize topics related to their own homes and lives. The only thing that is different from a regular Geometry or regular Construction class is the delivery method of materials. We still cover all of the same objectives and standards for both classes. High School: Jackson Hole High School Digital Fabrication Lab

The project at Jackson Hole High School revolves around a very new, cutting edge form of education referred to as a “FabLab”…short for Digital Fabrication Lab. This is a purposefully designed space with modern technology including 3D printers, laser engravers, vinyl cutters and milling machines. As we continue to develop and refine our project, one of our main focuses is to include the integration of all content areas into the fabrication lab so that students can develop a deeper understanding of any subject matter through the process of “making”. High School: Rock Springs Energy Resource Academy (Grades 10-12)

The Rock Springs Energy Resource Academy is a school within a school integrated CTE, Career readiness, and Science program that services 10th -12th graders at RSHS. The focus of ERA is the energy and natural resources business sector, with an engineering and real science bend. Updated 1/8/14


Middle School: PinedaleSTEM

Pinedale Middle School STEM is an integrated STEM classroom. About half the students at the middle school attend at least one of the STEM classes. Our classes are almost entirely project-based. You can use the website links to see the types of lessons and activities we are involved in. Updated 6/18/14 (Link removed because it is broken.)
