If you are looking for a comprehensive, established, and competitive Agricultral and
Applied Economics master's program, then here is what you need to know to apply.
Before the University will look at your application, you must meet the department's
criteria to be considered for our program.
During the application process, you will be required to pay a $50 application fee.
Please note that we cannot grant Application Fee waivers.
The deadline for applications for the Fall 2024 semester is February 1st.
You will need to upload several documents in order to be considered for department
approval; We cannot accept materials via email or shared drive. The Department of

Statement of Purpose
The statement of purpose should be 1 to 2 pages and should (at a minimum):
identify the degree track for which you are applying
identify whether you are seeking an assistantship and whether you have other secured
financial assistance (e.g., fellowships)
describe your educational and career goals
describe why you are a good fit for our program.
Academic or Professional References
Submit the names and contact information for three academic or professional references.
Your references will then be contacted directly by UW Admissions, and will be directed
to submit the recommendation online. We do not accept references via email.
Transcript(s)
Transcripts from all post-secondary institutions attended. Unofficial transcripts are acceptable at the beginning of the admissions process; however, official transcripts will be required prior to full admission. Use UW’s institution code 4855

University Graduate Admission Requirements
Successful completion of a bachelor’s degree from an accredited institution. If bachelor’s
is earned from a non-accredited or international institution, a transcript evaluation
will be completed by the University of Wyoming to determine if the degree is acceptable;
A cumulative minimum grade point average of 3.0 (A = 4.0) on previous coursework;
Composite minimum score of 291 on the verbal and quantitative sections of the Graduate
Record Examination (GRE).
International students, in addition to the requirements above, must also meet the following requirements:
A minimum Official Test of English as a Foreign Language (TOEFL) score of 540 on the
written exam or 76 on the internet-based exam. TOEFL scores are normally not required
for applicants from an English speaking country or those who have attended a U.S.
institution within one year preceding application to UW. [Note: TOEFL scores are
valid for two years from the test date.] UW will also accept a minimum score of 6.0
on the IETLS exam or certification of level 112 ELS completion in lieu of the TOEFL
requirements;

While our department accepts many applicants into our program every year, spots for
Graduate Assistanships are a highly competitive and highly selective opportunity for
driven and amnbitious applicatants. All potential students that are offered a spot
in our program are considered for Graduate Assistantships; there is no additional
application required.
Applicants should focus on the fall admission cycle (application deadline of Feb.
1) unless they are responding to an advertised request for applications. Watch our
