Associate Dean

Breezy Taggart, Ph.D. is Associate Dean in the Honors College at the University of Wyoming. In this role,
she provides academic leadership for innovative, interdisciplinary initiatives, including
directing the Honors SOAR curriculum and the concurrent major in Honors Interdisciplinary
Inquiry. Her work focuses on designing high-impact, experiential learning pathways
that integrate intellectual rigor with creativity, inquiry, and student mentorship.
Dr. Taggart also teaches interdisciplinary courses that explore the intersections
of art, medicine, science, and the environment. Her courses include Art and the Natural World, Picturing Mental Illness in Literature, Art, and Film, and Explorations in Medicine, Science, and Art in Florence, Italy, reflecting her commitment to place-based, global, and integrative learning experiences.
She earned her BA and MA in Art History and Curatorial Studies from Brigham Young
University and her Ph.D. in Design, Environment, and the Arts from Arizona State University
in 2019. Her dissertation, Disordered Minds: Picturing Mental Illness Pre-Deinstitutionalization, examines visual representations of mental illness prior to deinstitutionalization.
Her research centers on representations of mental illness, health, disability, and
medicine in art, photography, and film.
In addition to her teaching and administrative work, Dr. Taggart has curated and co-curated multiple art exhibitions addressing themes such as public lands, ecology and sustainability, home, and identity. Her scholarship and leadership are unified by a commitment to interdisciplinary inquiry, creative practice, and student-centered education.
