Are you an online student? We welcome you to Honors Online - a virtual way to complete your Honors degree requirements. This online educational experience is designed to build your interdisciplinary skills, knowledge, and abilities for success in a variety of fields and professions. Throughout your virtual journey in Honors Online, you’ll develop crucial skills like critical thinking, self-motivation, time management, and strong digital communication. These skills, combined with your ability to work independently and manage deadlines, will help you thrive both academically and professionally.

The flexibility of online education allows you to manage your time and learning in ways that suit your personal rhythm, but it also presents its own set of challenges.     STEP 2

    Register for required Honors coursework

    Each semester, the Honors College offers a variety of online courses, utilizing both synchronous and asynchronous formats, to fufill Honors degree requirements. In fact, the courses we offer during summer term and J-term are almost all online. Our Honors Online instructors are dedicated, knowledgeable experts in their fields, with extensive experience in online teaching. As an online student, you can expect to build meaningful connections with both your peers and faculty members through a variety of virtual means.

    STEP 3

    Begin Honors SOAR - an experiential learning program

    All Honors students are required to complete two badges of distinction through the Honors SOAR program—an experiential learning curriculum designed to foster learning through hands-on experience. For Honors Online students, use the search term “VIRTUAL” to find activities that can be completed online. Additionally, any experiences or activities you engage in, whether in your hometown or anywhere around the world, can contribute to the competencies listed in the program (use this handy guide for submitting reflections).     Start the Honors Capstone project

    The capstone project is an important part of your Honors degree, and it can be completed entirely online. Our Honors Capstone support team is here to help you brainstorm project ideas, connect with a faculty mentor, and stay on track throughout the process.
