As part of these aims, the Humanities Institute has established a fund to support humanities-related activities at the university. The kinds of activities eligible for support from this fund include, but are not limited to:
Bringing distinguished scholars in humanities related fields to deliver public talks at the university, affiliated community colleges and/or broader Wyoming community.
Developing seminars, symposia, conferences, and/or workshops that help foster and advance humanities based research at the university.
Covering the costs of honoraria, travel, and other incidental expenses for these kinds
of activities.
Applications must include:
The cover sheet provided below
A detailed description of the intended use of the funding, specifically discussing how the application fulfills the general purpose of promoting humanities-based research (no longer than one single spaced page)
A detailed budget listing specific categories and amounts of proposed expenditure
for each. This budget should reflect: (1) the total cost of the proposed activity;
(2) the costs that will be covered by the Wyoming Institute for Humanities Reserach
funds; and (3) other sources from whom you are requesting funding and, if available,
the amount that each has pledged (no longer than one single spaced page).
Consideration/Approval Process:
Applications for funding from the WIHR Co-Sponsor Support Fund will be considered on 15th of each month. Applications will be evaluated on a competitive basis and assessed in terms of their merit in helping to foster and advance humanities based scholarship and/or the community of humanities scholars at UW. Generally speaking, WIHR funding will be limited to $1000 per request; the average award may be approximately $500. Successful applicants must agree to give due public recognition to the Wyoming Insititute for Humanities Research in all publicity for their event.
