Mizi Li

Collaborative pianist Mizi Li maintains an active career in vocal and instrumental collaboration, encompassing art song, opera, chamber music, and orchestral performance. In 2026, she joined the University of Wyoming as Collaborative Pianist.

She received the John Harbison American Song Prize at SongFest and the Barbara M. H. Koeng Award from the Eastman School of Music in 2024. Her recent appearances include SongFest, Toronto Summer Music’s Art of Song, Source Song Festival, Wintergreen Music Festival, and a live-streamed recital presented by Shanghai Media Group’s ERC Classic FM.

 

At the Eastman School of Music, Ms. Li collaborated extensively with vocalists and instrumentalists through the Piano Accompanying and Chamber Music Department and the Eastman Community Music School. Before beginning her doctoral studies at Eastman, she served as a staff pianist at the Chicago College of Performing Arts, collaborating with vocal and instrumental studios in lessons, coaching, rehearsals, and performances.

Ms. Li has also appeared as a solo pianist in China and the United States. She performed in the Chopin Marathon Concert Series at Beijing’s Forbidden City Concert Hall and received Second Prize in the Cliff Dwellers Arts Foundation Piano Competition. After winning the Chicago College of Performing Arts Concerto Competition, she performed Ravel’s Piano Concerto for the Left Hand at the Harris Theater in 2016.

 

Ms. Li studied at the Central Conservatory of Music in Beijing before continuing her education at the Chicago College of Performing Arts, where she studied with Winston Choi and Edward Auer. She is completing the Doctor of Musical Arts degree in Piano Accompanying and Chamber Music at the Eastman School of Music under the guidance of Dr. Andrew Harley.
