Economics Professor Rob Godby joins Anne Alexander in discussions about global economics.

Two University of Wyoming professors will discuss the current state of the global economy during a special three-lecture series that begins Monday, June 15, sponsored by the UW Outreach School.

All lectures, free and open to the public, will begin at 6 p.m. in Room 222 of the UW Classroom Building. UW economics professors Rob Godby and Anne Alexander will lead all three sessions.

"It's important for people to know that this will be a general discussion meant for lay-people to gain a better understanding about what is going on in the global economy," Godby says. "What we will cover is very basic and is meant for people with general interest and people without a technical background."

The first two sessions will begin with documentary presentations followed by general discussion; the third session will consist of discussion with participants.

"Global Economic Meltdown: Causes and Lessons Learned" opens Monday, June 15, with "The Bubble," which will investigate some of the economic conditions that facilitated the unprecedented housing and consumption booms of 2003-07.

The second lecture, "The Bust," Wednesday, June 17, will address the coordinated global recession that has gripped the world since 2007.

The series concludes Monday, June 22, with "Lessons Learned," which will address the outlook for the economy and the possible consequences in the United States' future regulatory and economic environment.
