Pictured are faces likely familiar to many of you. All are alumni of the school; two have been or are UWYO faculty; each are concerned with and involved in bettering nursing care.
From Left to Right:
VIRGINIA “GINNY” CONLEY (MS ‘96 UWYO Nursing alumna and former UWYO Nursing faculty)
MARY BEHRENS (post-MS Certificate ‘98 UWYO Nursing alumna and current “Friends of the Fay W. Whitney School of Nursing Development Board member)
ANN MARIE HART (MS ‘96 UWYO Nursing alumna and current program director for the school’s Doctor of Nursing Practice Program)
The three posed for a picture in Phoenix, Arizona at the winter meeting for the Fellows
in the American Association of Nurse Practitioners [FAANP]. The theme of the meeting
was “Stewardship of the NP role.” Hart says the fellows discussed activities they
could engage in to protect and promote NP practice and the NP role.
Conley's takeaway from the conference: “It was reassuring to realize that some issues
of concern related to maintaining quality in NP education were shared by many others.”
Behrens summarized the event: “It was a very successful Fellows Meeting. It is exciting
to network and see all the creativity the AANP Fellows bring to the table. There are
over 220,000 Nurse Practitioners in the US and AANP is 74,000 members strong. Stewardship
is the responsibility of all members of the profession, which includes quality education,
training and practice. It also means Promotion and Protection of our Professional
Role.”
