Energy and Environmental Systems Overview
The Energy and Environmental Systems (EES) concentration at the School of Energy Resources trains environmental scientists and reclamation planners. Students learn to apply their knowledge of natural resources to protect the environment throughout the energy development process.
The curriculum emphasizes identifying and assessing environmental hazards, developing plans to prevent and mitigate issues like pollution, and providing guidance on potential challenges and health risks. Students take courses across various disciplines, including energy, science, engineering, mathematics, and Geographic Information Systems (GIS), to gain a comprehensive understanding of the complex interplay between energy and the environment. The program also has a significant focus on practical training, experiential learning, and dynamic relationships between students and employers.
