Mentorship Program

The SER Mentorship Program offers a broader experience for students to engage with industry mentors. Offered to students in any SER academic credential (BS, Minor, or certificates), SER pairs students with an industry mentor and facilitates meetings.

Additionally, the Mentorship Program provides peer-to-peer mentorship opportunities available to all class levels at UW. Upperclassmen are paired with freshmen and sophomores to provide guidance from a student perspective on navigating the degree program and developing networking strategies.

The SER Mentorship Program is offered to all students in SER's Academic Programs, including the Energy Resource Management and Development undergraduate degree, the Energy Resource Management minor, and the certificate programs.

Industry Connections

The School of Energy Resources Mentorship Program fosters professional and personal growth by connecting students with experienced professionals in the energy sector. This unique program provides invaluable opportunities for students to gain insights into the industry, develop essential skills, and build a robust professional network. Mentees benefit from one-on-one guidance, career advice, and exposure to real-world challenges and innovations in areas like sustainable energy systems, carbon management, and unconventional resource development. The SER Mentorship Program is designed to equip the next generation of energy leaders with the knowledge and connections needed to thrive in a dynamic and evolving global energy landscape.

Learn to Earn

Students in the SER Mentorship Program have the opportunity to earn money by completing tasks throughout the semester. To be eligible, students must:

  1. Meet (and document) once a month with either a peer mentor or industry mentor if applicable;
  2. Engage in at least one professional development activity during the semester. Opportunities may vary, but range from Student Chapter of Energy Resources (SCER) sponsored field trips, industry site visits, or job shadowing.

Job Shadowing

When avaialble, SER will provide travel expense funding for a job shadow day with an industry mentor, allowing students to meet on site and learn directly from a day-in-the-life in the energy sector. Contact Dr. Ashli Tomisich (Ashli.Tomisich@uwyo.edu) for more information on setting up a shadowing experience.
