University of Wyoming faculty and students work with "preceptors" - nurses who mentor our students in a variety of clinical settings. The Fay W. Whitney School of Nursing, in an effort to recognize preceptors--especially those who go above and beyond--presents an award annually to a preceptor in those UW School of Nursing programs with clinical components. Students nominate preceptors for these awards.
The preceptor chosen from BRAND is Morgan Holz, who was working as a nurse at Cheyenne Regional Medical Center at the time she precepted our student. The student who nominated our winner said the following:
My preceptor this summer, Morgan Holz, has been amazing and deserves recognition! She was the perfect match for me, not so much out of luck, but because she could see what I needed each day and became that for me—just like she does for her patients.
I felt so encouraged and supported, which gave me even more confidence to grow into my own role as a nurse. Morgan’s endless positivity, inquisitive nature, and sharp wit provided the best hands-on nursing education I could have hoped for. She loves what she does, and nothing could demonstrate that more than the passion she showed in sharing her experience with me this summer.
