The University of Wyoming (UW) will take reasonable steps to ensure that persons with Limited English Proficiency (LEP) have meaningful access and an equal opportunity to participate in our services, activities, programs and other benefits. The policy of UW is to ensure meaningful communication with persons who experience LEP and their authorized representatives, as well as providing for communication of information contained in vital documents.
UW will provide all interpreters, translators, and other aids needed to comply with this policy without cost to persons accessing services. UW will provide language assistance through the use of competent bilingual staff, contracts or formal arrangements with organizations providing interpretation or translation services, or technology and telephonic interpretation services.
UW has contracted with Language Line to provide oral and written translation services when UW needs assistance in meeting LEP person’s needs.
(Coming Soon!)
UW maintains information about the availability of language assistance on the ODEI’s website. In addition, UW may post notices as needed on other websites and physical signs in buildings. All such notices should: (1) inform LEP persons that they are entitled to meaningful access to UW’s PAS and may be qualified to receive language assistance; (2) how to access language assistance services; and (3) how to make complaints. UW will provide notice in languages LEP persons will understand.
