Together police and Laramie residents will do the following:
Appreciate the power of personal stories from community members and police to gain insight into their experiences
Recognize hot buttons and other obstacles that interfere with building relationships between law enforcement and community members
Listen for and respect the emotional content in what community members express and develop an understanding of what police officers experience
Use a conflict resolution process to find common ground in dealing with an issue that would otherwise lead to continuing tension
Acquire a toolbox of ways to improve interpersonal communication by decreasing defensiveness, with particular attention to tone of voice and body language
Help increase safety, inclusivity, and belonging in the community of Laramie, WY
This is an ongoing process and participants must be willing to engage with the ongoing work that this workshop starts

Where: University of Wyoming Conference Center Salon A
Time: 8:30 AM to 4:30 PM
