Background and Expertise
Hilary is a Senior Research Scientist whose work centers around the social science of large landscape conservation. Her primary focus is leading a multi-year project conducting program evaluation for habitat conservation on private lands in the Greater Yellowstone Ecosystem. Hilary is trained as a behavioral scientist and uses tools from economics and conservation social science to inform and evaluate environmental programs and policies. Prior to joining the Haub School, she worked with an interdisciplinary team of researchers and practitioners to study how homeowners manage wildfire risk in the American West. She ran field experiments with wildfire organizations to test how changes in their programmatic outreach affected engagement among property owners in wildfire-prone areas.
