Background and Expertise

Bonnie Johnson is an Assistant Lecturer and Degree Coordinator in the Outdoor Recreation and Tourism Management program at the University of Wyoming's Haub School of Environment and Natural Resources. Her goal is to bring her field experience into the classroom to help students build practical skills to support their career development.

Bonnie's professional background is rooted in outdoor education and recreation. She has worked for numerous outdoor-based organizations and programs, including those in the outdoor leadership field, conservation field, and tourism industry. She has spent several years with the National Outdoor Leadership School (NOLS) as a full-time field instructor, program supervisor, and assistant branch manager. Her work as a field instructor has taken her across the Western United States by foot and horseback, and to regions in South America and Africa.
